When and how often should I have a VisionSafe Eye Check?

Lydia Chang:

When, and how often, should you have a VisionSafe Eye check? Well, I would recommend once a year – generally. But, it will depend on the nature of the problem that you’re presenting with. And, sometimes, more often than that, every six months, for instance.

If we’re determining the rate of change, whether a disease is developing, then more frequent testing, such as every six months might be indicated.

If the symptoms look relatively low risk, then once a year will be absolutely fine.

Praveen Patel:

We see a range of people when it comes to the VisionSafe examination. Sometimes, people have already got a diagnosis, and they’re worried about the rate of change, or just want a second opinion. But, sometimes, it’s because of a fear of a particular condition, such as macular degeneration developing. In those instances, after we’ve carried out that initial VisionSafe test, and we’ve reported on the images and status of the macula, then again, we can individualise the interval between the scans and assessment, based on how things look.
