Does a VisionSafe Eye Check hurt?

Praveen Patel:

Does a VisionSafe Eye Check hurt? Well at the heart of the VisionSafe Eye Check is optical coherence tomography imaging and that’s our state of the art imaging technology that allows us to evaluate the structure of the back of the eye both regarding the retina and indeed the optic nerve as well.

And how optical coherence tomography or OCTMG works is by using infrared light to scan across the retina and generate three-dimensional, cross-sectional images of the back of the eye in very high resolution. It takes a few seconds to make a picture and indeed it’s entirely painless.

But it’s important to remember that VisionSafe is far more than just a scan. It’s about Lydia and me talking to you really about your concerns, about your symptoms and problems. And using our state of the art imaging technology to help make a diagnosis and hopefully prevent things going wrong in the future regarding your vision.

Lydia Chang:

VisionSafe for glaucoma would also include a visual field test, and that’s a test where we check how far you can see around your central vision. Now while this test would take about ten to 15 minutes to perform, it’s not a painful test at all. It just requires a certain amount of concentration and instruction.
